Emergency services rushed to South Street in Valletta on Friday morning following reports that the internal ceiling of a shop had partially collapsed.
The incident happened at around 10:20 am along the busy pedestrianised thoroughfare, an area popular for its shops, restaurants, and heavy foot traffic.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. A medical team from Mater Dei Hospital attended the scene as a standard precautionary measure.
Officers from the Malta Police Force, personnel from the Civil Protection Department (CPD), and officials from the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) quickly cordoned off the area. The street was temporarily closed to pedestrian traffic to allow emergency teams to secure the building and ensure public safety.
OHSA has since launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
