A worker was injured during demolition works at a construction site in Żebbuġ, with the authorities ordering all works on the site to stop as investigations into the incident continue.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) said they were investigating an incident at a construction site in Sqaq Nru. 1, Triq Ħal-Dwieli, in Żebbuġ.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a worker had sustained injuries while demolition works were being carried out, the authorities said.

Officials from both authorities, together with law enforcement officers and emergency responders, immediately went to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The authorities also issued an order for all construction works at the site to be stopped.

Investigations are ongoing.
