President Myriam Spiteri Debono departed for an official visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday morning.
During her visit, President Spiteri Debono will meet with Maltese patients receiving treatment at London hospitals, along with the family members accompanying them through their medical journeys. Her three-day itinerary includes visits to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, both of which are currently caring for Maltese patients.
The President will also visit the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus and the Puttinu Cares apartments in Sutton. Both entities, alongside the Malta Community Chest Fund, provide vital assistance and accommodation to Maltese patients and their relatives during their stay in the UK.
Accompanying the President on these visits are Health Minister Ian Borg and officials from the Malta Community Chest Fund.
On Wednesday evening, Her Excellency will attend and address an event organised by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) at the historic Cutlers' Hall in Warwick Lane. The gathering brings together key UK partners of the MTA alongside Maltese operators participating in the World Travel Market, one of the world's premier tourism trade shows currently taking place in London.
President Spiteri Debono is scheduled to return to Malta on Friday night. Dr Helena Dalli will serve as Acting President during her absence.
