Dr Sant and the Labour contingent visited various shops were they were met by a large number of supporters and shop owners who greeted and also reminisced on their personal experiences. The Labour leader was also kept busy signing copies of his books presented to him by various admirers.

In a short speech at the end of the walkabout, Dr Sant said this gathering was part of the Labour party’s May Day activities and that the programme was intended to shed light on the current business situation.

Economic activity was paramount for the betterment of the country and the party was conscious of the present situation and would remain steadfast behind all small and medium businesses, the Labour leader concluded.
