Directed Alasdair Makinnon, who has recently taken over the catering and entertainment franchise of the complex, has confirmed that The William Mangion Band will be performing every Monday night on a specially constructed stage on three levels near the pool.

A few years William Mangion produced a show for the Malta Tourism Authority which was so successful that it ran for two years.

“We are building on that show and improving on it, with dancers, back up vocalists, a live band and guest artists,” William said.

Mr Makinnon pointed out that the idea is to attract the local market, knowing full well how much the Maltese enjoy an evening out, especially in summer. He is convinced that William and his band will provide just what the complex needs.

“We met over a year ago when I saw him singing. Eventually we became friends and when my company took over the entertainment of this complex, I immediately thought of contacting William.”

Once inside St George’s Park complex, which is entered via Paceville near Zanzibar, it is surprising to discover just how enormous the place is. It has 980 beds and can cater for between 500 – 800 people for dinner and a cabaret show, apart from the lounge bar.

William Mangion has become involved as the entertainment manager and is in charge of booking and handling various acts as well as local and international DJs.

“Apart from he Monday Nite Live show, I’ve got different acts lined up for the lounge bar, which will include a 60s night and performances by various singers such as Karen Polidano.”

Another new idea will be “Search for a Star” which will be a talent contest over the summer during Karoake night. The winner will be given two days in a recording studio and a guest spot on the Monday Nite Live show.

Monday Nite Live will start from 7 June at St George’s Park Complex.
