The long-serving president of the Malta Weightlifting Federation, Charles Mifsud, passed away yesterday.

The news was confirmed by the Malta Olympic Committee general secetary Joe Cassar who, however, was unable to announce details of the funeral.

Mifsud was 61 years old. He had been serving as president of the local federation since his return from Australia in the seventies. He had also been a weightlifting medal winner when representing Malta while he was a resident of Australia in his early days.
