I refer to an article entitled “Gozo Channel’s New Year gift to cancer patients” by Dr Justyne Caruana (TMIS, 2 January).
Dr Caruana is correct in stating that patients who need to cross over to Malta for cancer treatment will no longer be afforded free passage on the company’s ships. She is however incorrect in stating that they will no longer benefit from priority boarding on the return trip from Malta. Priority boarding will continue to be provided to such patients subject to their producing the required documentation. Indeed, the company is prepared to offer this service to other patients if their medical practitioner recommends it on medical grounds.
Paying one’s fare on public transport can hardly be termed an injustice.
