Security Service Malta Ltd has announced the appointment of a Deputy General Manager to meet the new challenges resulting from the current expansion of business and the need to strengthen the management team.

Carmel J Farrugia has been appointed to this post. Other internal management appointments are also being implemented.

Mr Farrugia is coming from a long and varied career in banking. He was at first employed with Barclays Bank DCO in 1969 which subsequently became Mid Med Bank plc.

He also served as a director of the bank. He recently concluded this extensive banking experience at HSBC Bank Malta plc. Throughout his banking career he has occupied senior positions and accumulated extensive experience in management.

Commenting on this appointment, the company’s managing director Gordon Mifsud said: “The rapid expansion of our business and the increasing level of sophistication of the sector has necessitated the further strengthening of our management team.

A great deal of investment is being made in the most up to date technology as necessary to respond to a changing security environment. Mr. Farrugia brings with him a wealth of management experience as well as an in depth knowledge of logistics and cash handling management.”

Mr Mifsud concluded by saying he is confident that this appointment will further contribute to maintaining the company’s position as a leader in the security services sector.
