Alfred Sant is delighted to be seen smiling while he goes to markets to meet shoppers. He loves to shake hands and even gives an occasional pat on some poor soul’s back as television cameras focus on every move.
Strangely enough there are many people around despite the impression he wishes to give us that the islanders are almost starving and cannot cope with taxes and other austerity measures.
Why would Dr Sant go to these markets unless there are many shoppers?
Unfortunately, during these marketing tours Dr Sant does not find time to explain to the working and middle class shoppers how they will cope if his idea of the lira depreciation is implemented.
