Enough Is enough

Malta Independent Sunday, 6 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

From Mr J. Barbara

I sit here frustrated and so angry! Freezing cold at home, because the most efficient gas deliveryman did not bother to come and distribute in our road. We have been waiting for a week.

Why this monopoly? Why can’t we just copy what works perfectly well abroad? The UK for example? You need a gas cylinder? No problem! Go to the petrol service station and you see them stacked up neatly waiting to be bought buy! No – here in Malta we must be subjected to the whims of the rude, inefficient deliverymen. They come when we are at work, so we have to find someone kind enough to buy them for us! Ridiculous!

Maybe it is our road? A. Matrenza Street, San Gwann? Are we being blacklisted for some reason? Our road has been left in a disgraceful state for the past SIX months when it was dug up – after years of waiting – to be tarmacked. What happened? Local council says it is not its fault and goes to great lengths to explain that it is the Public Works who has stalled works because of a fault in the drainage they cannot find. What is this pathetic reasoning?

And is the Public Works also responsible for the disgusting amount of rubbish piling up in the street? The photos were taken today.

Enough is enough. Someone somewhere PLEASE do something.

J. Barbara
