15 Years of collaboration

Malta Independent Tuesday, 8 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Megabyte Ltd and Oracle ECE Ltd have celebrated 15 years of working together in Malta. During a short ceremony held at Megabyte’s operation centre at Mosta Technopark, Oracle European Enlargement and CIS Region senior vice-president Alfonso Di Ianni acknowledged the important milestones in Megabyte’s history as well as their on-going relationship, and presented an elegant brass plate marking the occasion to Megabyte founder director Karm Galea.

In a short speech, Di Ianni thanked Megabyte for their hard work during the years in promoting and establishing Oracle’s products and services in Malta and said he looked forward to even stronger relations in the future. Mr. Di Ianni said: “Oracle are truly impressed by Megabyte’s efforts to build solutions using Oracle products and services as well as the delivery of consulting and technical support on Oracle Technology.”

He continued by saying that: “... in setting up a local Oracle office with a business development manager in Malta, Oracle is recognising the importance of Malta in its role in Europe”.

Karm Galea, who was instrumental in formally introducing Oracle locally, said that the Oracle-Megabyte partnership is a success story in the history of IT in Malta. Indeed, he said, against tough competition, Megabyte had managed to introduce Oracle technology to various private and public organisations and had also implemented several Oracle-based applications in a number of business sectors.

Moreover, apart from having trained a good number of its staff in different areas of Oracle technology and applications, Megabyte has also set up an Oracle skills training centre after being qualified by Oracle as a certified education partner.

Also present for the occasion were Megabyte general manager John Ambrogio and software services manager James Forte.
