New Life at the Oasis!

Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

British guitarist Noel Gallagher recently revealed that his band Oasis is working on a new studio album. The as-yet-untitled album, which should contain a dozen or so songs written by the Gallagher brothers with guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, is slated for a May release. The experience of writing songs as a group instead of individually has apparently helped shape a new sound for Oasis and made the Gallaghers appreciate being in a band more than ever. Noel has already declared the new record his personal favourite of the band’s last four releases, also mentioning a track called The Importance of Being Idle, which he described as “a bit like The Kinks, a bit like The La's and a bit Liverpudlian” and another, Guess God Thinks I’m Able which, according to him, has an ending that will “blow you away”! Oasis will follow up the release of the new album with a UK stadium tour, allegedly with some “magnificent support bands” in tow!
