To Depend is such sweet security

Yes, as a husband, I truly believe that just as the children depend on their parents, so does the wife. The word “depends” in this context means “security”. This is definitely not a deplorable word. In fact we all have to appreciate the role of a wife, a mother and a dignified manager of the well being of the family. Another word which is certainly synonymous with this is “homemaker”. The strength of the family makes for a healthy society. The basis for a country with good sound values.

This, of course, in no way means that wives who work during their marriage are not competent enough to bring up a family properly. One cannot generalise. However the chances are that the children who complement this bond, known as a “family”, will not find the right environment to live with peace of mind – again a secure attitude.

I disagree that wives who do not work are treated as slaves and wait for their husband’s charity to favour them with money. Wives who choose to stay at home enjoy the money the husband brings home and shares it with him, as they both share with their offspring. Wives and mothers who stay at home will still own a car, have help at home, go to the theatre, enjoy a nice meal at their favourite restaurant and go on holiday abroad.

On the other hand there is a tendency that wives who want to be “independent” and who choose to work during their marriage, will most probably be abused by their husband, as he too might feel comfortable with the extra money coming in and would expect his “working” wife to pay for the Water & Electricity, the telephone calls, the schooling, her clothes and in a few extreme cases his holidays and entertainment.

So in this respect do we still want a “working” wife?
