Malta Independent Tuesday, 22 February 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

As part of their Carnival celebrations, Embassy Cinemas have organised a costume competition for children.

This year’s event consisted of the screening of a new release movie – Racing Stripes, followed by a costume competition. Apart from a panel of judges, all patrons were asked to clap for each contestant, participating in the actual judging itself.

Francesca Zammit, an eight year old from Birzebbuga, who dressed up as Treasure Island, placed third. Michaela Runza, a four-year-old girl, also from Birzebbuga, wearing a Little Bo Peep costume was the runner-up while Celine Portelli, a six-year-old from San Gwann was the acclaimed winner, wearing a stunning Japanese costume.

Prizes for the winning contestants included beautiful commemorative trophies, a year’s supply of goodies from Britz and Nesquik as well as free cinema tickets.

The next activity at the Embassy Cinemas will be Children’s Cinema Day, an event everyone looks forward to.
