Mosta Street needs to be seen to

Malta Independent Saturday, 5 March 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

I am writing this letter to express my disappointment with regards to the disastrous state in which we are living. Several residents already live in Triq il-Htajriet, Mosta, exactly in the part between Main Street and Triq San Anton Abbati. We have already made a lot of complaints with the local council and the Lands Department but nothing has been done till now.

The street has not yet been given tarmac and it has been turned into a dumping site as people living elsewhere find it convenient to throw rubbish in front of our houses. One can find water heaters, sofas, building material, tanks and other things. Moreover, rats have also been seen recently.

Two years ago a contractor had started working on a canal and the pavements were damaged. Even drainage culverts and water taps have been damaged and not replaced. The work done has also produced danger as concrete covers are unstable and some of them have already fell and people were injured.

Things are going from bad to worse. I hope that such complaint will draw the attention of those concerned once again so that we will be able to start living in a better environment.
