What formula does Enemalta apply to calculate the selling price of fuel, due to changes on the international market that simultaneously lowers the price of petrol but increases that of kerosene and diesel?

Last winter, a 20-litre container of kerosene cost Lm2.64, now it costs Lm7.08, an outrageous increase of Lm4.44!

It seems that this Enemalta formula is all-powerful! Besides increasing the price of kerosene again in such a short time, it has also done away with the 2005 budget ‘dictum’ that the price of diesel and kerosene should be identical. The Enemalta formula decrees otherwise, and flagrantly violates the budget speech. The price of diesel is now a bit dearer than that of kerosene!

The enormous budget increase in the price of kerosene was unjust and unfair because it punished severely the much much greater number of blameless non-abusers and rewarded handsomely those shameless, comparatively small number of abusers.

The electorate, therefore, still await a government notice reducing the price of kerosene to reasonable proportions without delay.
