I refer to the article entitled Bullets over San Blas by Raphael Vassallo (TMIS, 6 February).

Contrary to what the writer stated in the article in question, namely that the police fired warning shots and ended up confiscating a cannabis plant, I wish to point out that this is far from the truth, as in actual fact this operation resulted in the haul of two kilogrammes of cannabis, which is a substantial amount.

Readers can rest assured that the police use firearms only as a last resort and always with full restraint.
