I refer to an Odds and Ends (TMID, 28 March) which included an item about who should accompany an ambulance from the paramedic staff on a regular basis.

It is worth informing the general public that a policy does exist in this respect: a nurse accompanies an ambulance only if there is such a need, depending on the nature of the case.

There are cases when even a doctor is sent with an ambulance, again always depending on the nature of the each case.
