He was born down in the south of Poland

and he faced great hardship through the years

But he remained strong in body and soul

When there was darkness many doubts and fears

He took the road that led to Ancient Rome

Where he later became the chosen one

His way with words has touched millions of hearts

They were amazed by the great things he’s done

He was a mighty sweet Holy Man

Who did all he could to bring the whole world together

He had great faith and he was full of wisdom

In his message he always said love one another

Oh yes he was such a sweet Holy Man

And his aim was to keep on working for peace

He talked about freedom and sweet harmony

Such good things that will the Lord surely please.

He travelled to many places near and far

To spread the gospel of the Lord all around

And people everywhere used to welcome him

As he got down on his knees to kiss the ground

He was all smiles and a walking miracle

Known as the most merciful one of all

He gave hope and inspiration to young and old

No wonder the whole world loved the great Pope John Paul
