From Dr M. Schranz
I wish to correct inaccuracies in your article entitled “Radiologist-less” (TMIS, 1 May).
The article reports that I walked out from my job as a consultant radiologist in St Luke’s Hospital on Thursday 28 April. This is incorrect. I did, indeed, give notice of my resignation on that day, but did not actually walk out as stated.
In fact I continued daily documented lists of angioplasties in the angiosuite at St Luke’s Hospital even after handing in my notice. I also worked the following Saturday and Sunday as I was on call. In addition, I have lists of interventional procedures booked for May in the angiosuite, which I will honour.
The article also reports that this was a new job and I had been called back to Malta to replace another radiologist who had resigned from his job. This is also incorrect since I have been working as a radiologist at St Luke’s Hospital since 2001.
I returned to Malta in order to resume my previous job as a consultant radiologist, and not, as claimed, to replace the named radiologist who had resigned.
