Knowing Jesus

Malta Independent Wednesday, 11 May 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

A number of people think that Jesus is a kind of fantasy and unreal because they are unable to see Him. Others think that He was just an individual who lived 2,000 years ago but is now just a memory. However it is a fact that millions of people believe Jesus is the only way to Salvation.

The aim of this article is to present Jesus as a real entity that can be easily felt and experienced by the number of miracles that occur on a daily basis around the world. Such miracles are made in the name of Jesus, who is God himself. It is a fact that Jesus lived around 2,000 years ago, He was crucified, died and on the third day He was resurrected by the power of God. It is also a fact that he lives today and

forever.

We need not go too far to see the number of miracles that have occurred and still occur everywhere in the world. Even in Malta it is sufficient to go to the Mellieha Sanctuary or that at Ta’ Pinu in Gozo to witness such miracles. Crutches, dresses, stories of accidents and incurable diseases are found there as proof of the miracles that God bestowed on the people involved. All these miracles are approved by the Church, the more so because they do not have a rational explanation, except the Divine. Testimonies of doctors, specialists and other experts in their field testify as to the inexplicable healing of the individual concerned.

Apart from this, one may also experience the Divine hand bestowing graces during healing services that take place from time to time during the year. One can easily experience the presence of God and the Holy Spirit during such meetings especially when a sick person is inexplicably healed. You will experience healing and witnesses of the same persons which were healed by the divine mercy of God.

I would like to give my own personal experience on this issue. I did not know Jesus very well. However I began to attend various religious meetings and healing services. One day I met Dr John and I felt inwardly relieved – a kind of inner peace which is not easily explained. One has to experience it to be able to know what inner peace is. One literally feels as though he is living somewhere in paradise, a kind of peacefulness which is not of this earth.

From then onwards I was helped by other members of the community who prayed on me so that slowly but surely, the Holy Spirit began to change my life. I am not perfect but I do not pretend to be. However, I can say openly that my life has changed completely. Jesus has shown me a number of directions and situations where I have been instrumental to help others spiritually – at one time there was even a person who was an atheist but is now heading steadily in the right direction. I am convinced that Jesus exists and I believe that He is waiting with open arms so that all those who want to know Him can turn to Him for peace of mind and soul and eventual eternal salvation.

It may be well that my saying such things in public may not be believed by some people. However, my ultimate aim is to do my utmost to pave the way for you to encounter Jesus, to know Him better and to trust in Him always.

All these things may be experienced by you if you release yourself completely to Jesus who, after all, is the only way to salvation. A grain of faith is all that is required – a first step and a great will to allow yourself to be saved. Joining a community would be of great assistance thereby enabling you to surrender your life to Jesus. All the members in the Community would definitely help you spiritually so that the Holy Spirit may change your outlook to life. It is a fact that we, by ourselves, can do nothing. We are but mere dust. However with the help of Jesus we are bound to become eternal brothers and sisters with indisputable great awards.

I did not emphasise that the evil one is on the hunt to destroy our meagre resolutions to lead a better life. We are frail and easily succumb to situations which we frequently regret afterwards. Let’s get strong in our will, let’s not give the evil one the chance to overpower us and drag us into oblivion because that is ultimately his aim.

The only truth is that no one can go to God the Father, except through Jesus. There is no alternative. Therefore, it is a must to know Jesus and to accept Him as our only salvation. Our lives on earth are short. Any “age” on earth is practically insignificant against eternity. The choice is in our hands; let’s make the right choice so that on judgement day we may be all prepared. And if he comes today? How shall he find our souls?
