Badminton – H2Only Mixed League: Two Teams share top spot

The attention of all local badminton enthusiasts is currently centred on the H2Only Mixed League, whose fixtures from the first and second divisions are played practically every weekend.

In the First Division, B’Kara 1565 and Pawla Wolves Schtag are still on equal points at the top. Both teams are undefeated and had earlier drawn their direct encounter.

In their latest outing, B’Kara 1565 had the better of B’Kara John Bull, defeating them 3-1. Brothers Robert and Stefan Salomone as well as Fiorella Farrugia were the players behind this important result, which allowed B’Kara 1565 to preserve their unbeaten record. Jacqueline De Giovanni scored John Bull’s only consolation point.

On their part, Pawla Wolves Schtag overcame B’Kara Lowenbrau with an identical 3-1 score. Kenneth Vella, Anthony Xuereb as well as Catherine Dimech were the players behind this Paolite victory, which enabled them to maintain the pace with their adversaries. Jo’Anne Cassar scored Lowenbrau’s consolation point.

The first division table presently reads as follows: B’Kara 1565 and Pawla Wolves Schtag 14 points; B’Kara Lowenbrau and B’Kara John Bull 5 points.

The Second Division is equally developing into a similar two-horse race. In this case, B’Kara Red Lion have relinquished their former sole leadership and now share the top of the table with Pawla Wolves Schtag.

The activities of the Badminton Association will now continue next Sunday with more fixtures from the first and second divisions of this competition.
