Malta’s participation in Athletics, Sailing and Judo in the Jeux des Iles, Games for Youth from islands belonging to European countries, has been successful with the local athletes obtaining good results.

In Athletics, Diane Borg had second best time for the final of the 100 metres with 12.31 and wind of 1.1 m/s. She set a new under 16 record for Malta. Unfortunately after the finish she tripped and bruised herself but she will be fighting for the medal as usual

Sarah Muscat, Madlyn Vassallo, Renita Agius and Diane Borg won a bronze medal in the 4 x100 metres with a very good time of 49.63.

In Sailing the Maltese boys and girls had some excellent and not so good results, ranging from Carl placing in first, William went over the line, Ella was 5th and Louise was 18th. Overall the Maltese Sailors finished in the 4th postion.

Jerome Zammit won a bronze medal in Judo, having had his first fight against the last years gold winner during these same games.

The Maltese contingent is being led by Mr Envic Galea, MOC Director of Youth.
