Multiplus Overwhelmed by response to TV service offer

Malta Independent Tuesday, 7 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Due to the overwhelming response to Multiplus’ recently announced new digital television services, the company is now extending its special original pre-launch offer. In fact, the special reduced rate of Lm67 (instead of Lm87) for the Multiplus set-top-box decoder is now being extended until the end of the Trade Fair.

“The offer of Lm67 is extremely advantageous for a fully interoperable interactive decoder and this, along with the rates of our services that we announced recently, proves that Multiplus is truly committed to making interactive digital TV services not only available but also accessible to everyone,” said spokesman Jan Spiteri.

“There’s been a great reception from the public at large, a significant percentage of whom are people who follow Italian football, with a specific interest in the PPV services we will be offering. These people are not only enquiring but also booking to ensure that they have the right decoder in time for the season, which starts early this year.

Italian Serie A football matches will be shown exclusively on the Multiplus network. A minimum of three live Italian Serie A matches will be shown every weekend at a subscription cost of just Lm 3 per month or Lm25 for the season. Optional pay-per-view rates will be released soon and these, like all our rates, will be very competitive,” Dr Spiteri added.

Access to the Multiplus Network will incur a minimal cost of Lm12 per year or a one-off fee of Lm84. Once on the network, people can enjoy the TV and enhanced services available on the network and the interactive services that will be developed in due course.

With regard to TV services, anyone on the network will have automatic access to the Free+ package of channels and they will then have the option to subscribe to the pay TV services against regular monthly subscriptions or simply pay for content they wish to view “on-demand”. (eg, PPV).

Elaborating on the pending services, Dr Spiteri said that apart from the sports offerings, Multiplus is currently offering the Silver+ package. “The Silver+ package contains a large number of high quality channels at only Lm5 per month: fantastic quality and value for money. Other packages that are being prepared include Movies Plus, Gold Plus and Platinum Plus,” said Dr Spiteri.

Pay-per-view services will be available to all customers on the Multiplus network and these will not be limited solely to football matches but will also be extended to films and other events.

Each box will be delivered to the customers and their antenna will be checked to ensure that the installation at the customers’ premises is adequate to receive digital terrestrial television. Multiplus will also offer installation services for customers who do not have an aerial/antenna.

Multiplus will be commencing its commercial operations for digital terrestrial television on 1 July. However, anyone who is interested in the Multiplus product and service offer can book from now in order to start enjoying digital quality channels at a low cost.

Multiplus will be present at the Malta Trade Fair at the end of this month and any person booking now will also take advantage of any trade fair offers that the company will launch.
