Malta Independent Tuesday, 28 June 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Bulgarian defender Emil Stoilov has arrived in Malta hoping to become a member of the Stripes’ squad for the coming season.

He has over 300 games of experience in the Bulgarian top leagues with his last club there being Levski Spartak of Sofia. He also played for his hometown club Burgas.

The Stripes also announced on their website yesterday the arrival of Portuguese midfielder Nuno Gomes, who will also be on trial in the hope of joining Stephen Azzopardi’s squad for this season.

Gomes is currently on the books of first division side Boavista.

The Stripes have two vacancies for foreigners after the departure of Romanian central defender Lucian Dronca (to Singapore) and Nigerian striker Haruna Doda (to Hibernians).
