I must say well done to all the students who passed their Junior Lyceum examinations.
The fact that 60 per cent of them obtained a positive grade in all five subject shows that the education system is working well and that the students themselves gave their all. They now deserve some fun during the summer.
But, at a time of joy for all those who passed, we must not forget that there are another 40 per cent of students who did not make it, in spite of their efforts. They must be devastated to see their dream shattered.
These students, however, deserve to be encouraged and not be let go.
They must be feeling great disappointment at this stage but the people around them – in particular their parents and their teachers – should urge them not to give up.
Other opportunities will open up for them in the future.
