The government services offered online deserve a round of applause.

Through them, one can avoid long queues which, in this sweltering heat, are even more tedious.

Secondly, one also avoids having to go to Valletta or Floriana to get the service one requires.

The e-government services have recently been expanded to cover passports as well as income tax returns. I believe that this exercise should continue to expand even further.

Today, almost everyone is computer literate and those who are not can always find help from relatives or neighbours. Such services are therefore important, largely because they save a lot of time and hassle.

Apart from the government, other companies offer their services on-line. I believe that other firms should follow suit.
