From Dr P. Mallia
I would like to dissociate myself from the implication aired on Agenda (NET TV, Friday 24 June) that I may have any “Hidden Agenda” in the discussion on IVF, the amendment to the Constitution, or to any other field related to bioethics. If any government officials have any doubts about my integrity I invite them to investigate.
I reserve the right to act as ethics advisor, as is encouraged by my profession, but as a matter of fact I do not act as such for any company offering IVF. This has been made amply clear several times, including my presentation to Parliament.
I have specialised in bioethics on the recommendation of two priests (professors at university) at great personal sacrifice to my practice, family and personal finances; and with dedication and a sense of duty to
my faith. I have acted on the bioethics consultative
committee for several years, five of which as Hon.
Secretary.
