The press conference was addressed by MOC President Lino Farrugia Sacco and sports director Pippo Psaila.

Farrugia Sacco said that they were pleased with the results, especially the bronze medal won by Chetcuti.

Farrugia Sacco said that all Maltese athletes gave their best, and a very good account of themselves.

He pledged so that all Maltese give a helping hand towards local sports so as to reach a higher standard.

Even MOC sports director Pippo Psaila was pleased with the overall performance of the Maltese in Almeria.

He said that the medal won by William Chetcuti was an expected one, and before the games he hoped for another medal by golfer Andrew Borg.

Although Borg did not succeed in obtaining a medal, Pippo Psaila was more than satisfied with the improvement shown by Andrew Borg, were he even managed to set a course record during the fourth and final day of the competition.

Pippo Psaila stressed that the level of competitiveness in the Mediterranean Games is much higher than that of The Small Nations Games.

In fact Psaila said that these games are on a par with the Commonwealth Games, second only to the Olympics.

Psaila also mentioned swimmer Angela Galea who lowered her best time by two seconds in the 200m butterfly.

When looking to the future, Pippo Psaila said that in future the selection should be more selective.

He also mentioned the good showings of Carol Galea, Abraham Vassallo and Mario Bonello, whilst noting his disappointment for the bad results obtained in the 4x100m relay and the long jump.
