Former Goalkeeper David Cluett passes away

The Maltese football fraternity is mourning the sad loss of former Floriana and Malta goalkeeper David Cluett, who passed away yesterday after a long illness.

Cluett was just days short of his 40th birthday.

Cluett, a Melita FC product, was a prominent goalkeeper with Floriana FC whom he joined in 1986. With the Greens, Cluett won every local major honour until 1998, after which he had short spells with Naxxar Lions, Gozo FC and Birkirkara.

He returned to his old love Floriana in January 2001 for a short spell before he retired from action.

David Cluett also made 69 appearances for Malta’s national team since his debut in 1987. His last international match was the 1-0 away in against Macedonia in March 1996.
