Parking At Cirkewwa

Malta Independent Saturday, 30 July 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Reference is made to the editorial From Cirkewwa to Mgarr (TMID 29 July).

As everyone knows, the ports of Cirkewwa and Mgarr are at present construction sites. Therefore, as is expected in such cases, it is normal that certain measures need to be taken for such work to be carried out.

At the same time, the Malta Maritime Authority took precautions so that, as much as possible, these measures do not hinder transport between the two islands.

Recently, after discussions between the Authority and Gozo Channel, it was decided that the Gozo Channel ticketing system be transferred to Cirkewwa. This meant that 20 parking places had to be removed from in front of the cafeteria.

Conscious of the importance of parking facilities at Cirkewwa, the Malta Maritime Authority made up for the loss of these 20 places with another parking area accommodating 70 cars in the old marshalling area, which is no longer in use. The public has therefore “gained” 50 new parking spaces.

The authority is committed to ensure that the least inconvenience is caused to the public while the work is being carried out.
