Nwoko Set to strengthen Azzopardi’s Stripes squad

Chucks Nwoko is set to give Birkirkara a new dimension after his agreement to sign again for Birkirkara at the weekend.

Nwoko, 26, finally reached an agreement with the Stripes and penned a one year contract with the option for a further season.

Club chairman Victor Zammit yesterday confirmed to The Malta Independent that Nwoko started training with his team-mates yesterday and will be available for selection, thus further strengthening the team.

Nwoko, a key member of the Birkirkara squad in the past nine seasons, had gone to Cyprus for a trial last month as he was looking for a new challenge. He had also been pursued by some local Premier clubs, but will now again don the red and yellow jersey.

Meanwhile, Zammit also confirmed that goalkeeper Ivan Casha, who was on loan with the club from Marsaxlokk, may now move to Marsa in the first division, with the permission of the MFA Council. Both Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk have consented to the move.
