This Week’s theme: Vision: The idea of an Olympic Vision

Malta Independent Tuesday, 9 August 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

An important requisite in succeeding to achieve what we aim for is vision. The Olympic vision can be defined as “all the nations united and all forming part of our one world” Such a vision is needed especially today when men, women and children try to survive in countries which are being torn apart by war, hunger, terrorism and natural disasters.

The Olympic Games provide us with a dream for a world of peace where athletes’ can trade their speed, strength and endurance against one another without the fear of prosecution or discrimination because of their colour, creed or conviction.

Getting to the top is not what really matters; it is how one gets there that is important, and certainly, vision is part of the process.
