Buzu Football School Is five years old

The Buzu Football School will be five years old on 1 September. During this period, over 700 boys and four girls have attended the school, which is the first private school of its kind on the island.

Children attending this school hail from the various nurseries around the island and it has no connections whatsoever with any nursery.

Every coach is responsible for just 12 children and the school claims that already, some of its youngsters have been called to join the national Under 17, Under 14, Under 12 and Under 10 squads.

The coaches guiding the children and none other than Carmel Busuttil and John Buttigieg, two coaches who are in possession of the UEFA A licence. Together they have played over 200 matches for Malta and both played professionally abroad.

The school accepts just 150 children.

The school has taken a group of three teams to take part in a tournament in Austria, another group went to Manchester United where it was an honour for the school to see its youngsters playing against their Man United counterparts at Carrington.

Next summer, the school is planning to take other groups of children abroad where, it is hoped, they will take part in some tournaments.
