The Malta Football Association showed its appreciation to the Maltese supporters present at Ta' Qali National Stadium for the match against Croatia on Wednesday.

In a short statement over the signature of its PRO, Alex Vella, it said their wholehearted support and their exemplary behaviour during and after the match were commendable. The constant backing helped Malta obtain a memorable result against strong opponents.

Meanwhile the Association strongly deplored the incidents perpetrated by a group of Croatian supporters who vented their feelings in a shameful way towards the end of the match and after the final whistle. In those incidents a number of people, including MFA officials, were injured and considerable damage was caused at the National Stadium.

The association thanked the Commissioner of Police, the Superintendent in charge and the other members of the Police Force, for their effective intervention.
