The past few months has seen the national team making their utmost to prepare themselves for the upcoming Challenge Trophy which will be held late in October in Dublin, Ireland. Malta is seeking to improve on their last performance in this tournament where they placed 4th in home ground behind Great Britain, Azerbaijan and Moldova.

Under the guidance of Coach Alan Grima, the national team has lured some new, young elements to the squad which are said to be very promising talents. Players like Philip Mifsud, Mark Gilson and others have been included in the squad, whilst players like Chris Galea and Dennis Zammit should inspire the right level of experience to the squad. The youngest player is goalkeeper Andrew Mifsud who has also made his debut in the last Challenge Trophy and has gained experience in several tournaments abroad.

The Challenge Trophy, considered to be like the ‘Small Nations Games’ of young developing handball nations, will take place from the 25th to the 30th October in Dublin where Malta will play their first match against the home side.
