The third edition of the “Pearl Simpatia Crai” tournament, which is being sponsored by Mr and Mrs Joe Vella of Mimosa Street G’Mangia, has now reached its final stage.

During the past weekend, the six teams participating in this tournament played their last encounter of the second qualifying round and the four teams to contest the semi-finals were known.

From the start of these last matches, Team A captained by Horace Portelli, was already sure of qualifying, due to its consistency throughout the two rounds.

However, the other three teams had to fight a great battle to garner the necessary points to assure their qualification. It must be mentioned that Team F of Joe Vella made a great come-back during the second round and only missed its aim of playing in the semi-finals by just four points.

The final classification after the two qualifying round reads as follows:

Team ‘A’ (Portelli Horace) 83 points (qualified); Team ‘E’ (Elden Dave) 74 (qualified); Team ‘C’ (Buhagiar Darren) 72 (qualified); Team ‘B’ (Ricci Marco) 70 (qualified); Team ‘F’ (Vella Joe) 66 (qualified); Team ‘D’ (Schembri David) 54 (qualified)

Both matches will be played next Saturday starting at 4pm. The final is being played the following day, Sunday, also at 4pm.
