Malta’s Alex Borg had a good start at the UK Championship at Prestatyn when he beat Simon Bedford 9-3 yesterday in a first round match.

Leading 5-3 at the break, Borg, in excellent form, went on to clinch the first four frames of the second session to clinch a berth in Round 2 where he has now set up a clash with Brian Morgan.

In other matches yesterday, Bjorn Haneveer beat Adam Davies 9-4, Rod Lawler beat Nick Dyson 9-2 and Joe Delaney beat James McBain 9-3.

Tony Drago is also taking part. He comes into action in Round 3 of the tournament, which is a ranking event.
