In each of the last three years, competing in the Trojan Cup in Dublin, athletes from Gymstars Gymnastics Club of Tarxien, always managed to record some remarkable results at different levels. This shows the amount of talent the club have at the moment, especially in the young sector.

Very recenlty in Dublin, Gymstars won no less than 28 medals in various categories. This is all credit to the hard work put in by the coaches and the gymnasts themselves.

In Dublin, in the annual competition, Gymstars had a contingent of 10 gymnasts, accompanied by coaches Angelov Plamen and Inika Camilleri.

The level of this competition is on the increase every year with various clubs from Belgium and Ireland putting in their best talent.

Martina Galea gained a gold medal when she registered first place in vault with a good performance. The young Mia Vickery gave an excellent performance to win gold on Beam and Bars, whilst she also managed to gain third place in vault and overall. Another young athlete who had an outstanding performance was Kirsty Caruana winning gold on floor and bronze overall in the Under 11 Category.

Another gold was obtained by Nicole Pace who gave a brave show finishing first on vault and also gaining three silver on floor, beam and overall. A successful result indeed.

Tara Dalli was also at her best, winning two gold on floor and overall and adding more medals, bronze on bars and silver on vault.

Therese Cassar gave a credible performance in winning gold on the vault and also managed to win second place on floor in the 15 and under category. In the same category Debbie Schembri was successful in gaining second place overall and winning silver medals on beam and bars.

Francesca Borg although injured continued with her winning sequence. Competing in the FIG international competition she performed to her expectations in winning gold on vault, second on bars and third overall. She is now well experienced in such international outings.

Last but not least, one must mention Nicolette Schembri, who was in excellent form in the same FIG category. She reached her full potential on the beam winning gold, and went on to win second on floor and overall and third on beam and vault.

Coaches Angelov Plamen and Inika Camilleri were very pleased with the results. Weeks of intensive preparation paid dividends.

Before Ireland, a group of four gymnasts also competed successfully in an international competition in Italy.

This was a high level competition with gymnasts from Austria, Belgium, France and various clubs from Italy. 65 gymnasts in all took part.

Francesca Borg and Audrey Schembri were the most successful finishing with a tie in second place on vault, while overall Francesca Borg finished 9th, Audrey Schembri 11th, Roxanne Bonnici 12th and Nicolette Schembri a place behind.
