Malta’s Alex Borg was eliminated from the semi-finals of the Inter-Connect Dutch Open tournament in Amsterdam on Sunday as he lost his semi-final against Gerrit bij de Leij of Holland 4-0.

In the quarter-finals, he had beaten another Dutchman, Mario Wehrmann 4-1. Earlier, in the previous rounds, he had registered two 3-0 victories over Peter Terlou and Lee Richardson of England.

Malta’s other top professional player, Tony Drago, had to take part in this tournament as well, but eventually did not take part.

The two Maltese will be taking part in the Malta Cup next month.
