Luxol St Andrew’s Contructing an 800-seater stadium

Malta Independent Sunday, 5 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Works are in an advanced stage at Luxol St Andrew's main football pitch to turn it into a 'state of the art' artificial grass surface by the end of next month.

This will be the main item on a project - the construction of an 800-seater stadium - which is to cost the St Andrew's club a sum of around Lm350,000.

The only stand will also include an office and reception area, as well as some new dressing rooms.

This project is expected to be completed by the end of March, and the club has appealed to parents of children attending their football school and nurseries to show co-operation during this period so that the players, coaches and parents will have the minimum of disruptions during the training sessions of the children.

This project is, by far, the largest one ever undertaken by the club, after the construction of their five-a-side pitches.

The club intends to finance it privately without imposing additional burdens on the members and parents.

However, the club is organising a special fund-raising activity and therefore, members and parents of children attending the nursery, will be able to contribute by attending this activity.

This will consist of a Gala night of music and dancing at the fantastic SAS Radisson Hotel Ballroom, on Friday, 17th and Saturday 18th February.

The tribute Blues Brothers band will perform a memorable show for the price of Lm25 per person, which includes a three-course meal with wine and water.

With tickets being limited, everyone is urged to book early to avoid disappointment. This can be done by phoning Luxol office on 21376652 during office hours.
