Malta Independent Tuesday, 14 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

For this tournament, thirty teams from several established local Nurseries are taking part, with a total participation of 436 boys. A total of 74 matches will be played on the artificial turf pitch of St. Aloysius Sport Complex.

The tournament is being played on a 7-a-side basis for the Under-10 category, 9-a-side basis for the Under-11 and Under-12 categories, while Under-13 is being played on an 11-a-side basis.

Together with the hosts, the Nurseries of: Attard, Birkirkara, Floriana, Hamrun Spartans, Melita, Mosta, Naxxar, Paola Hibs, Pieta Hotspurs, Qormi, San Gwann, Sliema Wanderers, St Venera, Valletta and Zebbug are taking part in the various categories.

The tournament, whose first edition was played in 2002 grew in popularity and established itself as one of the best local tournaments organised on the island. After the encouraging response we received from all the participating teams in past editions, the Sliema Nursery for the fourth year running decided to hold the tournament at the impressive facility of St. Aloysius Sports Complex.

These facilities offer all participating boys the best opportunity to express their technical abilities, thus continuing, on the same foot steps of the MFA Grassroots Committee and the Youth F.A. to contribute in improving the level of the local game.

The organising Committee, whilst wishing all the participating teams to express themselves in the best sporting spirit, appeals to all followers of the local game to come along and support the best young talent on the island.
