Maltese player Simon Zammit suffered his first defeat in Group G at the IBSF World Grand Prix on Saturday. After four straight wins in the previous matches, Zammit was beaten by Martin Mc Crudden of the Republic of Ireland 3-4 in his fifth match.

Meanwhile, in Group D, other Maltese participant, Duncan Bezzina registered his first win in the competition, beating Wael Talaat of Egypt 4-2. Bezzina lost his other fixture against China’s Po-Hsien Lee 1-4
