Golf: Maltese Juniors win HSBC world team challenge

A team of Junior Members of the Royal Malta Golf Club have won the HSBC World Team Challenge. The winners of this competition, sponsored by HSBC International Financial Advisers (Malta) Ltd, saw off 20 other teams to finish with a total score of 299 Stableford points.

The HSBC World Team Challenge was played over three weeks by a total of 21 teams made up of four members. The winning team, made up of Nick Beck, Chris Bergedahl, J.J Micallef and Peter Dimech scored 86, 103 and 110 points on each of the three rounds respectively. Chris Bergedahl also won the prize for the highest individual score achieved over the three games played, with a total of 91 points.

Prizes to the winners and to the second placed team made of Gernot Schmid, Hans Proell, Kim Borg and Peter Satariano, who scored 297 points, were presented by Mr Michael Whitehead, Senior Manager at HSBC International Financial Advisers (Malta) Ltd.

‘I am very pleased to have offered our support to The Royal Malta Golf Club in this way, and at the same time raising the profile of our company. I believe everyone involved has thoroughly enjoyed the competition,’ said Mr Whitehead.
