Malta Independent Sunday, 7 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Former Hibernians and Rushden & Diamonds coach Brian Talbot has agreed to become Marsaxlokk’s new coach next season.

Club president Victor Schriha said yesterday the Englishman was expected in Malta next Thursday to sign the deal.

He had come over to Malta a few weeks ago where he had discussed a possible move back to the island, as well as having watched Marsaxlokk in action.

Scriha also said that Marsaxlokk will have three new foreigners next season. These will be Andre Da Silva of Brazil, currently playing at Tarxien Rainbows, and two English players, whose names, however, were not divulged.

This means that their current foreigner, Wendell Soares Gomes will not be retained despite all his goals the past season, including one on Friday night in the 2-0 win against Valletta.

Also, according to the president, the ambitious southern seasiders also plan to swoop for the young and very promising Valletta FC goalkeeper Miguel Montfort.
