Msida’s Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke, is currently on a two-week trial with Finnish top league leaders Tampere United FC.

The club is currently leading the Finnish top division with 16 points after seven matches and will be participating in the forthcoming UEFA Intertoto Cup later on this month. Earlier yesterday, Msida SJ Vice-President Edward Calleja was informed by an official from Tampere United that Daniel had left a very positive impact on coach Ari Hjelm and a one-week extension to his trial was requested.

The past season was successful for Daniel Nwoke who improved his personal goal-scoring tally in the Premier League.

In fact, the Lagos-born striker was the most prolific hit man (when excluding penalty kicks) for season 2005/2006 with 16 goals. In his four seasons playing in the Premier League, the past three wearing the red and white colours of Msida St Joseph F.C., Daniel played 90 matches scoring an astonishing 49 goals with an average of more than one goal every two matches.

The Nigerian striker, who signed a two-year extension to his contract with Msida St. Joseph F.C. earlier this season, was also voted Footballer of the Year for season 2005-06 by the club.
