Ira Losco Releases new single and meets Bob Geldof

Ira Losco recently released her fifth single of her top selling album Accident Prone. The single with the same title has been steadily climbing the local charts, enjoying regular airplay and frequent requests.

Following the success of her previous single Driving One of Your Cars, which held the number one spot for three weeks and her other releases constantly holding top three placing on local radio charts, Accident Prone promises to be just as successful.

Ira recently accompanied Jean Paul Mifsud from The YMCA Malta on a one-day visit to London, and met legendary musician and humanitarian Sir Bob Geldof. The young singer/songwriter had the opportunity to meet and speak with the man responsible for a string of number one hits together with his notorious band The Boomtown Rats and undeniably for his world wide humanitarian work.

It was shortly after success with the Boom Town Rats, with their second number 1 million selling single I Don't Like Mondays, that Bob Geldof sat watching a moving BBC broadcast documenting the devastation of drought-ridden Ethiopia and East Africa. That day he decided to stand up and be counted and do something about it, and has continued to do so ever since.

His name is synonymous with two of the biggest ever concerts organised in aid of Charity, Live Aid and more recently Live 8, a number 1 Christmas song in 1984 that turned it into a season of concern and hope for the starving millions in Africa and the ongoing “Make Poverty History” campaign.

Ms Losco's contribution to charitable organisations has also earned her a nomination for “The Woman of The Year Award 2006” which will be held on 28 July.
