Ristorante And Vinoteca Corleone at Bay Street

Malta Independent Wednesday, 16 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Ristorante and Vinoteca Corleone is a new restaurant in the Bay Street Tourist Complex, which was set up as a testimony to the fine art of Italian culinary traditions and expertise.

Over the centuries, Italians have discovered how to perfectly blend the flavours of different foods to create outstanding dishes. The love for great Italian cooking is what compelled the Bay Street management to theme the restaurant not just as an Italian restaurant but to have it specialised on four different Italian regional cuisines, namely Sicily, Tuscany, Piedmont and Lombardy.

Open for dinner Monday to Sunday, Ristorante Corleone is the latest addition to the Bay Street Tourist Complex on level 2, offering a vast menu with traditional regional recipes that are divided into Antipasti, Primi, Secondi dalla Sicilia, Secondi dalla Lombardia, Secondi dalla Toscana, and Secondi dal Piemonte.

A meal may start with Polpette di Neonati con Fagioli (Sicily) or Bresaola Di Leonardo Da Vinci (Lombardia). This may be followed by such dishes as Pasta con Bagna Cauda from Piemonte, or a nice Risotto alla Milanese from Lombardia. The seconds offer an inviting choice such as Cinghiale alla Cacciatore from Toscana or Ossobuco in Gremolata from Lombardia.

Ristorante Corleone has also launched its own Vinoteca with a separate menu including a number of refreshing platters which have been well matched to their selection of fine wine.

The Vinoteca Corleone opens daily at 9pm and has indoor and outdoor seating. Diners at the Ristorante Corleone may go there after their meal or, should they prefer, they may choose to go straight to the Vinoteca where they also have the possibility of reserving a table and absorbing the atmosphere of a traditional Italian-style wine bar.

The culinary expertise encountered at Corleone comes from years of experience both locally and abroad. Effectively, Ristorante Corleone offers a refreshing change from the clichéd fare found in some restaurants making its variety of traditional Italian dishes and wines well worth investigating.

Diners will also be happy to know that free parking is being offered to those who dine at the Corleone.
