Vodafone’s 3G Mobile connect card turns downtime into uptime

Malta Independent Wednesday, 16 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The launch of Vodafone’s revolutionary 3rd generation technology in Malta, marks the availability of a whole new range of services such as video calling, full track music downloads (FTMD), and faster Internet content. Moreover, with the 3G Vodafone Mobile Connect Card, customers are able to have fast and reliable remote access, benefit from 3G roaming in major European cities, and able to work at their own leisure, wherever they are.

The process is simple. One needs just install the software, plug in the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card (with its Vodafone SIM Card) and is ready to get online. No more wires, no more connection problems. Customers may turn downtime into uptime whenever they like, to maximise their productivity at home and overseas.

While laptops have given business people the freedom to work away from the desk or workplace, the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card can significantly boost productivity by giving access to the information one needs, whenever it is needed. With certain mobile phones, one can connect the phone to the USB port of the laptop or PC and the same functionality may be achieved. This is particularly useful for the not so heavy users.

The Vodafone Mobile Connect Card solution includes a wireless data card that one simply plugs into the laptop and connects to Vodafone’s 3G and 2.5G data networks. The unique Mobile Connect software makes it easy to get on-line, shows an approximation of one’s data use and allows the sending and receiving of text messages direct from the laptop.

Vodafone’s 3G network provides broadband-like download speeds of up to 384kbps. However, the most impressive thing about VMCC powered by 3G, is Vodafone’s network optimisation, which enables the intelligent compression of data. This feature takes 3G’s already fast data rates and turbo charges them, delivering a user experience of between 300-500kbps.

In an area where 3G coverage is not yet available in Malta, a seamless transition to Vodafone’s 2.5G network will take place. This will revert automatically should one return to an area where 3G is available.

While abroad, one can make use of the 3G Vodafone Mobile Connect Card in the same way as at home or at the office. 3G Roaming agreements have been signed with major European countries and others will be added to the list in the near future. To celebrate this revolutionary innovation in mobile technology, Vodafone is offering special deals and discounts.

The Data Roaming Tariff, enables Vodafone customers to benefit from advantageous data roaming rates, when roaming with Vodafone in major European cities.

Vodafone’s Mega 600 rate plan offers clients a free 3G phone, as well as 30 free video call minutes and 600 voice minutes, all for Lm40 per month. With the super 300 plan, one benefits from 30 free video call minutes and 300 voice call minutes, for Lm25 per month.
