Thailand’s Full moon party in Malta

Malta Independent Sunday, 3 September 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Paradise Bay will be the venue for the Full Moon Party 2 on Saturday.

The party will be a combination of live performances, DJs, and other attractions that will blend in with the breezy décor of the venue to recreate the same vibe of the famous Koh Phangan full moon parties in Thailand.

Haad Rin beach on the island of Koh Phangan is home to the Full Moon Party every month making the ultimate travellers get together in one of the best beach bashes in the world.

The highlight of the event is a mix of percussion and violin by Renzo Spiteri and Simon Vella.

The event starts at 7pm with Owen Jay on the mix, followed by a live percussion jam by local travellers incorporated with a Capoeira show. Multi percussionist Renzo Spiteri will then play a fusion of African and Asian sounds. After Renzo’s solo performance, the innovative contemporary violinist Simon Vella takes the stage.

Deejays N. Bone and Mertz Project will then entertain the crowd with a mixture of ethnic and psychedelic music. Stalls from L-Arka Fair Trade Shop will be set up on the beach selling world music and other forms of art. A one-hour Capoeira workshop starting at 8pm will be led by Sasha, the Ukrainian who brought the Afro-Brazilian martial art based on dance to our shores. A Bar and Grill service will also be available at the Paradise Bay Lido.

Entrance for the party is just Lm2.50. All proceeds will go towards Koperattiva Kummerc Gust and “Break on Through” for abandoned dogs. For further information, please contact Simone Ellul on 7985 8346.
